New CS summer program

This summer, undergraduate students will participate in the inaugural Access for Computing Equity (ACE++) program. Designed and implemented by Edward Alexander, diversity program administrator in the Departments of Computer Science and Mechanical Engineering, this is a 12-week residential summer experience for current Tufts first-year students who are interested in pursuing a major in Computer Science (CS). ACE++ will give students the opportunity to take two foundational courses in CS in order to learn the structural knowledge and skills needed to succeed as a CS major.

This program will support up to 12 students. In addition to taking CS 61 (Discrete Math) and either CS 11 (Introduction to Computer Science) or CS 15 (Data Structures), students will also connect with other members of the computer science community, participate in professional development opportunities, and engage with the broader Tufts community in fun programming.

Finalists were selected in April to participate in the program, which will begin in mid-May. Students who were accepted to the ACE++ program will take these courses free of charge, and the program will cover the cost of room and board as well as an additional stipend.
